Well it's been a while - Hannah and I are now married and we are proud to be a husband and wife team! We look forward to all of our new clients and appreciate the positive reviews from our past clients left on WeddingWire. Here's some video footage I shot at a wedding in Portland, OR on September 10, 2011. I had a lot of fun working with David and Kelly, they blocked off their entire street which made their wedding unique in having a block party feel to it. The last hour of their wedding was around a 128 bpm electronic music set which the crowd absolutely loved and that kind of energy can't be expressed in words - just one of those things that you had to be present to experience for yourself and unfortunately I didn't get much footage from that last hour since I was having so much fun as a DJ!

Had the pleasure of providing sound and entertainment for a wedding yesterday on August 20th, 2011 at A Sanctuary at Washburn Heights in Brownsville, OR for Mr. and Mrs. Brian and Kelsey Horn. The ceremony and reception were both amazing and the weather was perfect, had a chance to use our new wireless lapel system and everyone had fun at the right moments along with tears at the right moments - especially during Kelsey's vows to Brian, all the special dances with family and Kelsey's father made a slideshow that was presented after the sun went down.
It's days like these that I know I wouldn't trade what I do for anything else in the world - I love being a part of weddings and creating memories for loved ones to enjoy for years to come. Enjoy the short video and link to pictures on our Facebook page and let me know what you think!

Here is footage from weddings I did on August 6th, 7th and 13th of this month. Wedding on August 6th was held at the Marriott North Harbour Courtyard in Portland, OR which was an outside ceremony and reception held on their patio. August 7th was at the Guthrie Park Community Center in Dallas, OR for an outside ceremony with indoor/outdoor reception and on August 13th I was back in Dallas for an outdoor ceremony and indoor/outdoor reception at BeckenRidge Vineyard. Last weekend I had the pleasure of once again spinning music and music videos for Riot in the 80's - Friday's weekly 80's night at Cloud 9 in Corvallis, OR on July 22nd. July 23rd I was hired to DJ a wedding at Elk Cove Vineyards in Gaston, OR and July 24th I was over in Salem, OR at the Zenith Vineyards where I did my first wedding sharing the stage with a mariachi band!

Two announcements - the Music Library by artist and title have been updated and has been a much needed update since it was last updated in February. Head over to the downloads page to look over all the music we have in our library, we are almost at the 23,000 mark!
Our second announcement is that over the past few years we have been able to DJ at 57 venues (possibly even more that we don't have records of as well) and will post this list in an upcoming blog post so stay tuned for that if you are interested in seeing where our DJ travels have took us

This Friday David Stoltz from DJ Stoltz Records will be doing his pilot run of an 80's night at Cloud 9 Bistro and Bar in Corvallis, OR and we would love to see all of you there! I would like to take a moment and publicly thank both Sarah West and Brian Lewis for their willingness to cover my Applebee's gigs while Hannah and I are at Disneyland during Spring Break with my family. You both rock! Also here's a picture of Sarah during our last training session:
Here are some pictures from the Oregon Wedding Showcase that was held on January 8th and 9th at the Lane Event Center. You can see what our booth looked like and a few pictures from the fashion show. Overall it was a really fun experience being our first bridal show and we plan on making it a yearly tradition!
A few of the employees sung a song last night at Applebee's and was recorded by the manager - not quite sure if they completely knew the song but at least they had fun, that's what karaoke is all about!
Here's another hour mix for everyone to enjoy. This mix is at 130bpm and unlike the last mix there are only a few remixes in here with most of the tracks being the original versions. The majority of this mix is Top 40 "dance" music with all of the tracks being from my PrimeCuts subscription.

In order to make our Booking Schedule page more easy to use we have decided to embed a calendar widget instead of using our old text list format. This should allow easier navigation of our schedule and will be more user friendly as well, so please comment or send us a message if you like the change!
If anyone is having problems viewing the calendar widget on our Booking Schedule page then make sure the latest version of Java is installed on your computer or device used to view the page. The widget has been tested with several different computers and should work with most mobile devices and all iOS devices (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad).

Now for the obligatory New Year's Resolutions, here are a few of mine:
- Become more active within my local community and network with more local vendors
- Attend and actively participate in more wedding shows and trade showcases (participating in the Oregon Wedding Showcase this weekend!)
- Book enough business for Hannah so that she can be working full-time with DJ Stoltz Records
- Take more pictures at events and upload more videos to share on YouTube
- Become more active at blogging, whether it's sharing personal insight at weddings or advice and tips from other vendors that I find useful
- Upload more DJ mixes! This is the most-requested item that I hear from people and I'm glad to say that I'll be working on at least one new mix for next week
Those are some of my goals, if anyone reading this have any goals they would like to share then feel...
With my recent experience running shows at several Applebee's venues running karaoke and Guitar Hero I have realized that Guitar Hero is becoming more popular than karaoke. I believe there are several factors involved with this as to why Guitar Hero is so popular and these factors are also a testament to the game series' popularity. So why is Guitar Hero reigning supreme over karaoke?
- It's a lot easier to pick up and play.
- Less skill is required (and difficulty can be customized as a player becomes better and needs a challenge).
- You don't need a lot of courage (real or the liquid form) to perform in public.
- Guitar Hero does a better job at making a person feel like they are a rock star and actually playing an instrument, even if they have no musical skill at all.
- It's a video game. This attracts gamers and music lovers alike.
- You can play with your friends on other guitars, switch to bass, play the drums (who doesn't like to hit stuff?) or even sing. Yes, Guitar Hero can be karaoke with one or more microphones.
- There is no age limitation behind Guitar Hero....
